Weekly Game Update: August 7th - August 13th, 2022

A bit late, but hey this weekly update is here now! This week was a little weird and I didn’t get a lot of game time in. Just a lot of stuff… people coming in and fixing stuff, looking up replacements for our mega broken washer/dryer, a bit of scrambling to find new food for the kittens (their current food got discontinued ._.), and a few big people events I had to go to. Thankfully the AC got fixed though, so as least I wasn’t miserable for most of the week! Just pooped out. Oh well.

I did actually play some games this time, and I read a bit too! Also I started adding all of the included PS Plus games to the backlog lol. I couldn’t really come up with a reason to NOT do it, so here I go lol. Not listing all of the games added (way too many) but I’ll note what letters I’ve gone through and added.

Now, onto the updates!

Book Stuff

The Tea Enthusiast’s Handbook (Mary Lou Heiss and Robert J. Heiss) - 94/181 pgs

No progress.

Winter (Marissa Meyer) - 574/827 pgs

Yay, I’m now past the halfway mark! Not sure what to say about it at right now though… It’s still got some big actiony scenes and it’s still a very breezy read. I guess there was a tiny bit of lover’s jealousy going on which I wasn’t a huge fan of (it got some big eye rolls from me), but that part was brief at least.

Can’t wait to read some more and (hopefully) finish it soon!

Yes I added another game even though I haven’t made a huge amount of progress in anything else ._. I was super excited to try out the PS VR lol.

Astro Bot Rescue Mission

I have a little experience with VR prior to PS VR, as my husband got an Oculus Rift a while back, but my previous experience with it had been pretty middling. I wanted to love the experience, but the headset put a huge damper on my enjoyment. First off, the Rift doesn’t work well with my glasses (or at least with the model that we have), and we had to go hunting around for special lenses made for prescription glasses. It was a bit of an initial letdown, especially since it took a while to find that solution. Once we got the lenses though, it thankfully worked well, but then the headset gave me some major headaches. It touching my face was also incredibly annoying. Because of all that, I haven’t touched VR anything in years.

Now with the PS VR, I was SUPER excited for it because I heard it worked well with glasses. I was still nervous about it of course, as the internet can exaggerate sometimes, but I was really hopeful that it would work well. When I finally got to try it out… it was amazing!

Initial setup was super easy, adjusting the headset was fairly easy, and it worked super well with my glasses! And it didn’t really touch my face! It did give me a headache after a little while, but I played for around 45 minutes, which was a lot better than the Rift. I still am getting used to it and am still figure out the best way to put it on my face, but so far I’m just so happy that it worked out so well!

Anyway, the game! Astro Bot Rescue Mission! I just finished the first world (I think there are six total?) and it was super cool. So far it’s a nice breezy platformer with a bunch of collectibles, and you can use the VR to look around in all sorts of directions to find all the hidden goodies. I did have a few issues here and there, but it was mostly related to me getting used to what’s best for the VR set. Regardless I can’t wait to play more!

Everybody’s Golf

Still chipping away, trying to work on ranking up for the final time. I beat the first of three “bosses” of the rank pretty easily, and I’m currently just about to start the second one. Yeah progress is still slow, but slow and steady wins the race, right?

Also I did get a good number of scores on some of the courses. A bunch of Birdies and a few Eagles too! You need a bunch of them to unlock special challenge characters, which you need to beat all of for a trophy so yay!

Backlog Update

Backlog: 1757 (+147)
Time to Beat: 37,802 hrs (+2,611 hrs)

Hello, incredibly large mass of PS Plus games part 1. There’s a lot of games on the service, and there's very little overlap with my own collection.

Not sure when I’ll get to most of them, but it’s nice having options, especially for when I next pick a game at random. I really want to pick a new random game right now, but I don’t need another game on my playing list lol.

Ok will I actually get to playing some RPGs next week?? I hope so! Other than that I’ll be keeping on chipping through Everybody’s Golf and hopefully playing through a bit of everything else as well.
