Intro & The State of the Backlog
Hi! I'm Lauren :)
I love games but I am pretty bad at organizing my time well and actually seeing my darn games to the end. I know that technically that's fine, but I like the endings! I like the sense of accomplishment that comes with beating a game (or at least crossing it off the list, never to be played again lol). It's just that I get easily distracted, have difficulty choosing a game in the first place, and sometimes get easily frustrated at minor setbacks. I love picking up games too which does not help at all lol. Oh and sometimes starting a game can be so intimidating that I just don't?? Not like the discs/carts/code is going to bite me, so not sure why that's a thing...
So yeah, here I'm hoping to document games I play or something cause I've been wanting to do this sort of thing anyway.
Some of the sorts of games I like!
- Atelier series
- Turn-based RPGs in general
- Yakuza series
- Visual novels
- Rouge-likes (at least the ones I've played so far)
- Weird and/or silly anime games
- Super chill farmy/crafty type games (like Stardew Valley, Rune Factory, and Dragon Quest Builders)
Some of the sorts of stuff I have little experience in that want to try more of
- Dungeon crawlers
- SHMUPs
- Spooky games
- Strategy RPGs
- Souls games
- Whatever the heck Nobunaga's Ambition is
- Platformers
- Metroidvanias
- Something in Japanese (long term goal though I guess since my Japanese is bad lol)
Some of the sorts of stuff I tend to avoid but might play? Who knows
- Point and clicks / adventure games
- Multi-player games
- Real-time strategy games
- Those big strategy games about taking over the world or something and there are so many windows and stats oh my
- FPSs
The Current State of my Big Scary Backlog
Ok I'm not actually scared of my backlog, and honestly I'm totally fine with having one but it would be nice to actually play some of those games that have been sitting there for a while? My backlog list on HowLongToBeat (HLTB) has been out of date for a while since I was lazy about adding stuff, so I did a bunch of re-organization and many hours of adding games in and well... It's big.
Current Backlog

Time to Beat: 668 days, 15 hours
So yeah it's beefy. It's missing some games I probably will add from itch.io and Xbox Game Pass, but it does include a large number of games I randomly got from various bundles. Some of those bundle games came some from very iffy bundles that I would randomly buy (bad idea lol). There's definitely going to be a chunk of those that I don't like or don't run that will be swiftly hacked off, but I actually want to try them first!
Anyway, hopefully I figure something out and actually get to playing my games! Particularly since there are so many games I want to play, including many different series I want to play through. Not sure what else to say but if you're reading this and/or my future posts... thanks!
